Tanz der Bots
Ein Haufen grüner Punkte auf der Karte führte mich nach Terra Luna, wo ich dann in einem Fachgeschäft ein Naturschauspiel erleben durfte, wie es sich nur im virtuellen Raum ereignen kann.
Da sind wohl ein paar Bots während der ersten Hälfte des rolling restart ausser Konrolle geraten und der Botter hat es nicht bemerkt. Als ich einen Tag später auf die Karte schaute, sah es so aus als ob die Ansammlung verschwunden wäre. Wahrscheinlich sind die Bots wieder an Ort und Stelle zum L$ campen oder traffic erzeugen.

Geklaut
Nirgends wird mehr geklaut als im Internet.
Der Diebstahl von virtuellen Gütern wurde oft und reichlich im Concierge Information Group chat (CIGc) diskutiert. Die Unzufriedenheit über die Haltung "des Betreibers", die Schließung einer ganzen Region voll mit copyright Verletzungen, das Löschen von virtuellen Gütern, das Problem ist bekannt. Es gibt schon Raubkopien von Palmen aus dem RapidSL botanical Pflanzengeschäft.
Im CIGc wurde die Gründung von ASO United bekannt gegeben, die Gruppe ist für alle offen.

Auch schon mal davon belästigt werden? Zugegeben, das hier ist eine extreme Ausnahme, andere Geschäfte begnügen sich mit einem oder zwei "Anti copybot" Skripten. Aber diesen grünen Text bekommt man häufig zusehen.
Wozu soll das ganze gut sein? Aufgetaucht sind diese Skripten im Frühjahr/Sommer letzten Jahres. So um die Zeit als ich auch über die libsecondlife gestolpert bin. Die Geschichten über den "landbot", einige Artikel im Forum "des Betreibers", ich bin dann schließlich auf die Projektseite der Libsecondlife gestoßen.
Der copybot soll auf der libsecondlife basieren und eigentlich ein "proof-of-concept" Programm gewesen (ist lange her, daß ich das im libsl Forum gelesen habe; ist das Forum eigentlich noch online?). Ob sich damit tatsächlich etwas kopieren lässt? Ich weiß es nicht, ich habe den Quellcode nie gesehen und auch nicht weiter danach gesucht, weil die Fähigkeiten der libsl zur Estateverwaltung viel interessanter waren.
Nun gibt es in der libsl den TestClient, ein Beispielprogramm, wie man die libsl nutzen kann. Das Programm hat keine graphische Benutzeroberfläche, sondern ist Kommandozeilen basiert, so wie früher die Programme unter DOS, z.B. fdisk. Um den TestClient zu beenden wird der Befehl "quit" verwendet. "Gesteuert" wird der TestClient, über Befehle, die direkt an der Konsole eingetippt werden oder man kann einen anderen Avatar als "Master" bestimmen und von dem "Master" Avatar aus Befehle per IM an den TestClient senden.
Ich vermutete, dieses "Copyright Protection Version 3.053419a: !quit" Skript, das bei falscher Platzierung auch die Nachbarparzellen vollspammt, nur ein Sensor ist, der die Umgebung abscannt und jedem Avatar, der in seine Reichweite gerät, eine IM mit "!quit" schickt, um so das copybot Programm, was vielleicht ähnliche Funktionen zur Steuerung wie der TestClient bietet, zu beenden.
Ich frage mich, wie hoch der Aufwand ist wenn man a) den Quellcode vom copybot hat und b) irgendwelche Grundkenntnisse in Programmierung hat, das Programm so umzuschreiben, dass "!quit" nicht mehr funktioniert. Nicht allzu hoch, vermute ich mal....
Seitdem sind über 12 Monate verstrichen... es soll neue Varianten von copybot geben, teils über Exploits in LSL, teils libsl basiert.
Und über Bots und traffic will ich mich an anderer Stelle auslassen.

Betriebsstörung
Es war wieder soweit...
"Der Betreiber" hat es auch bemerkt .... die üblichen Symptome, chat lag von 15 Minuten, Vendoren liefern keine Waren aus, aber es poppt kein blaues Fenster auf, das auf die Störung hinweist.

It is important that you read everything in this document if you have trouble making sl users finding your shop/business.
First let me mark up what you need to get started advertising your products or service.
1. A business location on a commercial SIM ("Show place in search" must be activated in About Land).
2. Rights to maintain your parcel name and description on your business location.
3. Willingness to NOT think "my shop must be nice - both the name and the amount of items". You need to beat your competitors.
4. 150-300L per week to have 2-3 classifieds ads running.
5. Make people you know (or customers) have a picture of your shop in their picture serction in their profile

1. Your business location / Shop.
The first you do when you have your parcel purchased for your business (maybe you allready have the land), is to open
the "About Land" from either "World" > "About Land" menu in top of your viewer - OR rightclick on the ground texture on the parcel and click on "About Land" in the piemenu.
Here you hurry to the "Options" tab in this window. Here you look for a check option called "Show place in search".
Make sure to check this and KEEP it checked. This costs 30L per week to LL, but is a small price to make a good business.
Another thing on this tab is: If you dont have any items on this parcel which is categorized as "Mature", then REMOVE the "Mature Content" check option. Else this will prevent your shop from being seen of those who only search in PG ratings.
Next rightclick and "Edit" all your items for sale (it doesnt matter if it is "for sale" or using "pay" vendors). In the "General" tab in "Edit" make sure to check the "Show in search" on ALL your items you are selling. This will make more available counts in the search engine database.
Now section one is done.

Make sure you have the right to change those to what you like.
3. Moving away from NICE to "Using my elbows"
You now want to look at your business name. Not the real business name you have, but the one used on your parcel.
My own business is named "Palen Design & LF Creations", BUT....my parcel name is called "Palen Vendor Systems & LF Creations - Vendors / Business".
I do this because it means alot which words is mentioned in the parcels name and descriptions. The parcel name is actually more important than the description.
My main product is my vendors, so I want those to be mentioned as much as posible. I also happens to know that alot of new businessowners look for "business" related stuff in search to get started, so I also have that in my title.
Always think about what am I selling, and WHO do I want to find me.
Therefore if you dont sell SEX, then dont put the word sex in anywhere. It will only give you visitors you DONT want.
The description on the parcel is the second thing to look into.
Here you want to make sure your best selling products (or what you expect to be the best selling) is mentioned alot. But be aware that you only have 1024 characters to do with in the description.
Again only use words that has some relation to your products.
4. Classified advertising
You would probably say that if you want to use classified advertising you will not need the other things. But you are wrong then.
Classified ads are also used to rate your listings in the new search and is therefor an important part.
But you dont need ads that cotsts half of your RL salary.
Make 2-3 classifieds (i recommend 3) ads in classifieds that are almost identical. By this I mean where the same words are almost the same in all 3. Pay only very little for those (50-100 Lindens per ad), unless you really want to make a combined advertising and feel it is worth the money to pay for more.
Now you are done setting up your advertising for your business parcel.
5. Making your friends have your business in their picture section of their profile.
The more people who have a picture of your business in their profile the higher you will be listed.
This means they HAVE to be ON your business parcel when they creates the new picture. This will also create a Teleport pointer to your shop, and will make you more popular seen with the search engines "eyes".
I have set up a monthly contest myself where I take out a random groupmember with our shop in his/her profile and the price is 2500L. This is ONE way making people having that picture, but it could be any way.

The worsed mistake you can do now is getting impatient. Advertising always takes time to work. In this type of advertising you can follow the improvements from day to day. But you will not jump from page 10 to 1 from wednesday to thursday.
After we moved our shop it took 4 weeks to get on top of page 1 again, so if you dont have the patience then this is not your way of advertising.

unser täglich Störfall
Gegen Abend war es dann wieder so weit, nachdem die vergangenen Tage auffällig und angenehm störungsfrei liefen; die DB hatte wieder "Schluckauf" und der Grid Status Report warnte davor, Transaktionen durchzuführen. Zwischenzeitlich wurde ein "all clear" von "dem Betreiber" verkündet.
off topic in Gruppen chat
In der Concierge Information Gruppe machte sich heute etwas Unmut breit, weil in einer Gruppennachricht darum gebeten wurde, sich an die Gruppen Charta zu erinnern und den "Rauschpegel" so niedrig wie möglich zu halten. Die Gespräche sollten sich auf Themen beziehen, die dem Gruppencharakter angemessen sind. Einfache Plaudereien sollten ausserhalb dieser Gruppe stattfinden. Hier und da wurde geäussert, dass "der Betreiber" damit kritische Stimmen zum schweigen bringen will.
Schnell wurde eine neue Gruppe gegründet und alle sind eingeladen, dieser Gruppe beizutreten.

Der Linden Dollar Verkauf wurde überarbeitet und die Preise angepasst, neue Währungen wurden hinzugefügt und in mehrere Sprachen übersetzt.
